About the Destination

Bodhgaya. When we first hear this name, it immediately reminds us of Gautam Budhha. It was here, under the Bodhi Tree, Budhha got enlightened and started spreading this light around the world. The most revered place for all the followers of Buddhism, the place is equally sacred for one and all, with many ascetics and saints from Nepal, Tibet, and China having prayed here and filled it with holiness. Simply breathing in the air of Bodhgaya instills a feeling of extreme positivity which is enough to wash off every negativity you’d have collected in life until now.

The most important pilgrimage of the four main Buddhist pilgrimages, Mahabodhi Temple of Bodhgaya was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2002. And it is not the only place of worship in Bodhgaya. You’ll find several monasteries and temples in Bodhgaya which have been built with reverence by the people of Nepal, Bhutan, China, Tibet, Sikkim, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, and Myanmar. With each pilgrimage, foundation was laid for an architectural wonder which is a reflection of Budhha’s impact on each one of them. And with so much diversified cultures spread at one place, the giant statue of Gautam Budhha unifies them all as one being.
